I have been taking photographs since I was about 15 years old–started in my sophomore year in high school, when I discovered I had a knack for it.
I can look at a scene, and – in my mind – see the picture that’s waiting to be taken. It irritates me when certain people contend that photography isn’t “art,” that only can be done by people who paint or sculpt, etc. Every time I hear people say when they look at one of my pictures “anybody can do that” I want to hand them camera and tell them “prove it.” Photography is a very legitimate form of art, and I proudly count myself as one of the artists.
