Summer Sessions Week 7 – All That Jazz

Mark Nolan Group performing at 6pm, followed by Jacob Cole Trio

    Mark Nolan Group

The Mark Nolan Group has been delighting audiences in Northeastern PA for the past five years with their electric takes on classic jazz standards. The group consists of Mark Biederman, a Berklee College of Music alumni, on electric guitar and Nolan Ayres on electric bass. The two work extensively as a duo but will be joined on drums for this show by Steve Kurilla, one of the premier drummers in the area. The three musicians have a wealth of experience having been involved in many different ventures through the years. They’ve also each played many different styles of music, ranging from jazz to R&B to rock n roll, among others. For jazz fans, their set is not to be missed!

Jacob Cole is lifelong drummer/world percussionist and a graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston. He has studied with some of the best drummers/percussionists in the world including Jamey Haddad, Zakir Hussain, Glen Velez, Billy Martin, and Adam Deitch to name a few. In this new and exciting world music trio he is joined by fellow Rogue Chimp band mates Mark Woodyatt on violin and Jon Ventre on bass. Mark Woodyatt is an award-winning multi-genre violinist and adds so much to Jacob’s music. Jon Ventre is one of the most in demand bassists in the area and always brings his magical touch! In this group Jacob plays his handpans which are only a two-decades-old melodic steel drum and an ongoing evolution of the steel pan. The trio will be performing Jacob’s original handpan compositions from his newest album, “HOPE.” Sit back and relax because you’ve never heard or seen anything like this trio!
