Three greats of the Ithaca jazz scene come together to form String Swing, an ensemble that performs jazz standards, gypsy jazz, and original swing tunes. On violin is Eric Aceto, accomplished violinist, fiddler, and maker of world-renowned violins, electric violins, and other fine stringed instruments at Ithaca String Instruments (ithacastring.com). On jazz guitar and vocals, Wayne Gottlieb is a member of the Ithaca-based band, the Pelotones. He writes and sings originals swing tunes. Chris White has been pushing the boundaries of what the cello can do for several decades. He founded the New Directions Cello Festival in 1995, which continues bringing cellists together annually to explore all styles of music outside of classical music (newdirectionscello.org).
